Before I start on this post, I must warn anyone that does not respect or tolerate same-sex couples, transgender persons, etc. If this is not your cup of tea, I really suggest you move on. While I've respectfully put my reaction under a cut, if you click it and are offended that is not my fault.

So while getting my daily Tumblr fix, I came across this post regarding an ad Target put out. Seeing all the comments screen captured like that made me really sad and, let's be honest, angry. I tried looking for the ad on Targets Facebook page to see more, but it must've been an older one because I went as far back as New Years and didn't see anything. However, the recent comments--most of which were regarding the ad in question--were very positive and supportive of the store. Personally, I applaud Target for the ad--and their policies toward the LGBT+ community--especially since such things are highly controversial and volatile (even though they shouldn't be!). They took a huge risk putting their support forward like that for the world to see when they would potentially risk losing a lot of customers. However, judging from all the nice, positive, and supportive comments I saw I think the store will likely gain customers and keep those who are truly loyal, regardless of their reasons for their loyalty. Those that want to leave... Well, there is really nothing Target can do if a customer really and truly no longer wants to shop at their store, again, regardless of their reasons.

On a more personal note regarding this, I just don't see what the big deal is? I mean, unless a person comes up to you and says they're gay, you'd never know! You'd go on living your life being ignorant of the fact that the Joe Schmoe who stood in front of you in line was gay. In the privacy of their home, does it really matter where two guys are putting their schlongs? The answer is, it doesn't matter! Honestly, I don't think I will ever understand what the BFD is regarding "gay marriage." How does the desire for two people of the same sex wanting to get married destroy the sanctity of your own personal marriage? The answer is, it doesn't! Anything that's occurred to destroy your marriage is probably by your own hand and not some strangers who happen to be gay. I mean, when I saw the Target ad my literal reaction was, "Aw, they look so cute and happy together! :3" What the fuck is so wrong with that?

Most of my day was spent at the doctor's office with my mom and then the hospital getting pre-op stuff done. An EKG was done at her doctors and it came back abnormal so for the next 24 hours my mom has to wear some kind of monitor and on Thursday some sort of Echo has to be done. We sort of had a scare regarding this when scheduling it because this Friday is mom's surgery and, at first, the hospital could only schedule it for next week. If we could not get it this week then she wouldn't be able to have her surgery for a while because the doctor/surgeon would be unavailable until sometime in June due to a vacation. Thankfully, however, the lady we spoke with was able to get her manager to approve a scheduling this Thursday. The downside, for me at least, is the appointment is at 8am XD.

I saw that same thing I tumblr today as well. I felt the same way I was sad by what everyone was saying. I was just saying the same thing you would never know they were gay and there could be gay people all around you everyday what is the difference. I applaud target for doing this. I well never understand the hate people give to the gay community. Think how they feel having to see straight people getting married and straight people have more divorces as well I really dont see what they do as hurting anyone.

Exactly to all that! I don't understand it, either, and I don't think I ever will. :\

I'm glad you were able to get in. Funny enough the same thing happened to my mom back when she was getting ready for her 2nd hip replacement (her re-replacement?) there was something funky about her EKG so we had to scramble to get her to a cardiologist two days before her surgery...because the surgery doc was worried about the reading, while moms normal doc wasn't.

Anyways...yay for getting in so she can have the surgery on Fri! Also I'm super excited for THE ZOO! They have a new lion...and it's a boy! Named Simba (kinda cliche but oh well).

We are, too. Although the person who had to stick her with the needle this morning did not do it well. Afterward at breakfast, she told me it really hurt. :c

I am very excited about the Zoo, too! \o/ Saturday can't get here fast enough. :3
