[sticky post] So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish

I suppose I should just make it official and say that I no longer post to this journal. If I could afford a paid account at Dreamwidth, I'd cross-post to here, but until that happens I'll be leaving this journal alone. Why not just delete this journal? I've contemplated that, but seeing as I have graphics/icons on here, I'd rather not lose them in case our journal people want to use them.

Other Journals You Can Find Me On:

  • ~affictitious | This is my Personal/CDJ which contains random character bios, info, memes, drabbles, and other writing along with whatever I feel like updating about.

  • ~iheartunicorns | My code and icon journal.

  • ~thateringirl | This is my Personal journal. Entries from here get cross-posted to ~affictitious

I know I've had some good conversations with people on here, so if you want you can still interact with me on either IJ or DW using OpenID (IJ, DW).
I'm here. I exist, I swear. XD I'll have a "What I've Been Up To" post very soon. Plus, I will also update my Anime Rec List.

I posted this on my Tumblr, but wanted to re-post here. XD

Man of Steel Was Fantastic!

.... But the customer service and movie-going experience was terrible. I can legit say that since the time I've been going to movies, I've had cause to complain once about a terrible movie-going experience and that happened when I was kid. It's kind of hard to enjoy your movie when it literally tears and breaks during the showing. As a child, I cried. Today, I did not cry but it is incredibly frustrating to have your enjoyment of a movie get interrupted--twice!--by the picture and sound cutting out. At the beginning just before the previews, the audience was subjected to the AMC Ritz cracker-esque character thingy 6 - 8 times before the picture decided to move on to the actual previews only to have the screen flash green several times and go black. It was a great thing there was no one epileptic in the audience cuz then there would a serious problem on the theaters hands, but I digress.

So, we're subjected to a long stretch of black nothingness before the picture finally comes back and plays the previews. Everything's great now, previews have been played, the movie is playing. I get to see Henry Cavill sport a sexy Man Beard and show off his Extremely Attractive and Sweaty Torso at one point and I'll be honest. I've always been a Batman girl, but sweet Jesus, Cavill has really tempted me to start considering picking up a Superman comicbook one of these days. And I know, I'm objectifying him and shit, but come on... he's really attractive, okay? Let's not forget how he looks in the uniform and the awesome ass-kicking he was doing... until the picture gets interrupted again!

This time, the screen goes black with no warning but the sound is still playing so the bestie and I are like, "OMG NOOOOO, WHAT IS GOING ON? WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE MOVIE!?" So, at this point, I need to add that when this interruption of the picture first occurred, one or two members of the audience got up to go, I imagine, complain. This time? A TON of people got up to go complain--and rightfully so!--but the bestie and I stubbornly stayed in our seats because, damn it! We paid $10.25 to see this movie and we were going to see it to the end unless the staff was going to kick us out for technical difficulties. By this time, both picture and sound had been lost but eventually returned in time to see that Superman had saved a bunch of people. Cuz Superman is cool like that, even if AMC was not today and you can bet your ass the bestie and I complained and ended up getting a guest pass for our next movie-going experience.

Anime Rec's: A Masterlist (and WIP)

I should totally be working on William Lockhart for Populous Postea (/shamelessplug). Instead, I'm working on starting an Anime rec list of series I own, have watched, or began but never completed for one reason or another. So, in no particular order...

Gunslinger Girl (13/13)
Officially, the Social Welfare Agency is a government sponsored corporation that's in the business of saving lives. At least, that's the ruse. In reality, it's an agency on the fringe of technology. They give terminal patients another shot at life using cybernetic implants. This conditioning process then shapes the patient into an efficient machine for handling all of the governments dirty work. They've been given a second chance at life, but at what cost?

Kurau Phantom Memory (4/24)
Her name is Kurau, and in a worlf of mercenary agents, she's the cream of the elite; a master martial artist and thief so skilled that no secret or objective is beyond her grasp. The greatest secret of all, however, is the one Kurau conceals within herself: The freak result of a disastrous experiment with a new kind of energy, Kurau's body has been fused with a binary alien life form called the Rynax. Every second Kurau lives is lived twice, one alien sharing her consciousness, the other still waiting to be born... and now none of those lives may last very long! The truth about Kurau has begun to leak out, a worldwide manhunt as been launched and now the ultimate agent is the ultimate target.

Rurouni Kenshin (22/95)
In the early Meiji era, after participating in the Bakumatsu war as the assassin "Hitokiri Battōsai", Himura Kenshin wanders the countryside of Japan offering protection and aid to those in need as atonement for the murders he once committed. When arriving in Tokyo in the 11th year of Meiji (1878), he meets a young woman named Kamiya Kaoru, who is in the middle of a fight with a murderer - who claims to be the Hitokiri Battōsai - tarnishing the name of the swordsmanship school that she teaches. Kenshin decides to help her and defeats the fake Battōsai. After discovering that Kenshin is the real infamous assassin, Kaoru offers him a place to stay at her dojo noting that he is peace-loving and not cold-hearted, as his reputation implies. Kenshin accepts and begins to establish lifelong relationships with many people such as Sagara Sanosuke, a former Sekihō Army member; Myōjin Yahiko, an orphan from a samurai family; and a doctor named Takani Megumi, caught in the opium trade. However, he also deals with his fair share of enemies, new and old, including the former leader of the Oniwabanshū, Shinomori Aoshi and a rival from the Bakumatsu, Saitō Hajime. (Source)

Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal (4/4)
Kenshin, a deadly assassin, possesses a soul as war-torn as the battlefields of Japan. With his bloody work slowly stripping away his humanity, he still hopes for peace. Kenshin finds this hope personified in Tomoe, a beautiful yet mysterious woman who shows him a life beyond the sword. Sadly, she too is torn by ghosts from her past. Can Kenshin and Tomoe save each other?

Saiyuki (??/50)
This series is remotely based on one of the most famous Chinese classic tales, “The Journey to the Western World”. This legend has been the source of many television programs and feature films. However, in “Saiyuki”, the legend is fictionalized and the result is almost an original creation. (Source)

One of These Days...

... Joffery is gonna throw a hissy fit of such epic proportions that he's gonna pop a blood vessel and die. When that happens, I'm gonna dance with glee. Never in all my life have a hated a character so much as I do him. Never.

Hello, Dreamwidth! Yes, I Am Alive

I'm alive long enough this evening to say that I'm 72% done with The Iron Wyrm Affair, although that might change as I'm about to crawl into bed to read more of it before I go to sleep. We'll see if it holds my attention for more than a chapter or if I end up nodding off. XD An un-related note on my 2013 Book Challenge: I'm disappointed in myself that I am now 8 books behind. :\ I think starting this weekend I am going to work on remedying that.

May. 24th, 2013

(Sorry, I just [sort of] woke up)
Before I start on this post, I must warn anyone that does not respect or tolerate same-sex couples, transgender persons, etc. If this is not your cup of tea, I really suggest you move on. While I've respectfully put my reaction under a cut, if you click it and are offended that is not my fault.

Most of my day was spent at the doctor's office with my mom and then the hospital getting pre-op stuff done. An EKG was done at her doctors and it came back abnormal so for the next 24 hours my mom has to wear some kind of monitor and on Thursday some sort of Echo has to be done. We sort of had a scare regarding this when scheduling it because this Friday is mom's surgery and, at first, the hospital could only schedule it for next week. If we could not get it this week then she wouldn't be able to have her surgery for a while because the doctor/surgeon would be unavailable until sometime in June due to a vacation. Thankfully, however, the lady we spoke with was able to get her manager to approve a scheduling this Thursday. The downside, for me at least, is the appointment is at 8am XD.

Damn You, Game of Thrones!

Maaan, this season has been fantastic so far! But this episode, which was written by the man himself, George R.R. Martin, wanted to make me scream in some places not because it was terrible--it SO was not!--but because of my reaction to a few things.

The Bear and The Maiden FairCollapse )

I have more to write, but time constrains are preventing me from writing out the rest. If I have time later, I'll either add to this point or just make a "part two."
